Accounts Receivable Specialist

Mid-City Steel is searching for a detail-oriented, analytical Accounts Receivable Professional to join our team and assist the accounting department as it receives, processes, and collects on goods sold or services rendered. This person will be responsible for creating sales invoices, as well as, determining and reporting costs associated with each job that is completed. The AR Specialist will also work closely with internal departments and serve as an auditor to ensure that accounts are accurately billed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Perform final job costing for costs associated with each job.
  • Research and solve payment discrepancies.
  • Maintain accounts receivable customer files and records.
  • Follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc.
  • Process credit card payments.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Process adjustments.
  • Assists Accounting Manager in reconciling revenue account each month.
  • Weekly reporting of invoicing totals, aging totals, cash receipts, and invoice adjustments.
  • Make recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures.


Job Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand construction contracts.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong math, data entry, and computer skills.
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • Excellent communication, research, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and internal departments.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred, OR
  • Comparable record of accounting experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.

We are searching for skilled fabricators with a highly trained eye for quality to join our Tough Job Team! In this position you will be exposed to some of the most high-tech welding and fabricating tools used in the industry. You will learn new and more advanced methods for fabrication, and you will be able to help support Mid-City Steel’s vision of delivering products of the highest quality to our customers! Job responsibilities include but are not limited to;


  • Operate fabrication shop machinery and equipment.
  • Read job information sheets (JIS) to attain expected results.
  • Accurately measure work-piece dimensions based on blueprint specifications.
  • Remove burrs and sharp edges from work-piece.
  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Verify final piece meets quality expectations for job.
  • Report or record completed items through remote link.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervision.


Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or a GED equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in fabrication, OR
  • Comparable record of equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
  • Ability to comprehend blueprints and work specifications
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds or more
  • Must be able to pass the welder qualification test as required by the AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code.
  • Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes a plus!


Physical Demands

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
